Meet Mike

I grew up in a small town in North Aurora, 40 miles outside of Chicago. Always the good kid in class <snicker>, I semi strove for academic excellence while trying to maintain decent atheletic shape. So I did the things the kids in a small school did: football, basketball & track. As it turns outI didn’t have the maturity for football nor the genes for basketball after highschool. It took about 18 years to figure it out and as I did, I had my best friend, David with me every step of the way.

Upon graduation, I ended Loyola University and graduated with a degree in computer science. After 12 years of computer consulting my stomach turned into a set of spare tires and my chins grew friends. Now I find me, my new friends and tires in Dallas, Texas happily married to a wonderful woman. I’m in school working on my MBA and my wife is a successful Interior Designer for a wonderful design firm downtown Dallas.

One day, Dave called. Kind of surprising actually, after highschool, we didn’t talk much. Friends just tend to spread apart. He was running again around some energy facility in Chicago and I was thinking about getting back into it myself. The old spirit kicked in, a bit of competitive juices and a need to get back to our oldselves left us with the desire to push each other a little further into the past.

My goal is to complete a marathon before 35. Of course, right now, I’d settle for the old 5K without being passed by Grandma and her three legged dog.

Thanks for enjoying this trip with us.
