Michael Here… I’m in Illinois taking care of sick family and it’s 3:50 at night. Unfortunately, I can’t sleep. So, I decided to put on lots of new features in from the BuddyPress package. This will give us the opportunity to extend our little site to new members with much less effort than a typical site would require. Let’s call it an experiment. New features include a “wire” such as that in Facebook and Group Creation. Since I’m super tired, I’m leaving some features disabled because they are not working quite right. The BuddyPress theme is new for this version of WordPress and I’ll have to continue working on it as time goes one.

1. First thing: I need a new Header file! The one I created a long time ago is not the right size and it just looks bad.

2. The Activity Wire needs tweaking, it’s not displaying properly.

3. The “Friends” with other members doesn’t seem to be working and I’ll fix that, though it may have to be with another version.

4. Let’s play with this for a bit and see what happens. If I receive a direct email from Dave, I’ll disable the theme and revert back to the old version.

5. Note: The method of putting up new posts HAS NOT CHANGED. Log in as usual and post a blog. Please remember to add a category to your blog post for future navigation capabilities.

Well, I started the upgrade process for our little site here and POOF, it went up in smoke. Fortunately, I was able to keep the posts and unfortunately, I lost all the formatting, etc. So, it’ll be back but for now, I gotta return to my day job.

I really want to put a forum up so we can have a discussion group that encourages and feeds off each other’s energy toward progress. So, post your vote now! If we get 15 votes then I’ll put up a new forum, called, “The Track”

Logo, maybe

I still can’t get the logo quite right. But this one is my favorite so far. Now I have some tweaking to do with the image size or just to get it to size with the screen.

Dave is putting more into running than I am at the moment. I’m nursing a sore shoulder and looking for other excuses but I’ll be back.

I’m thinking of a new motto: The 8 Minute Mile – It’s not just a dream! Any thoughts?

Site Development

Ok, so I put this little diddy (the site) together using a very basic Word Press installation and messed with the logo a bit using GIMP and a logo creator. Kind of lame but it gives us a chance to ramble (umm, pun or inside joke?) on about our journey back to the daily workout.

I’m going to introduce some new tools for site syndication, a different layout, more graphics, and the chance to build more of a community. So, if the site sucks for now, be patient. It’ll get there.
